Irish Travellers are a traditionally itinerant ethnic group predominantly english speaking. Their ancestor was an artisan who had agreed to merge the nails to build the cross of Christ, and was therefore condemned to wander without finding a permanent abode . Travellers don't have a permanent house, but have a very strong bond with their home, meaning the loved ones: family, friends, siblings... Every June they converge to Appleby, by Gallows Hill (named after the public hangings that were once carried out there), for one of the biggest and oldest Horse Fair in Europe. There they celebrate their music, history and folklore
