Hypnos, son of Night and brother of Death, gave rest through dreams, yet his realm is not eternal. Awakening marks a deeper passage: what Jung calls the encounter with the Self — the silent center where the fragments of personality unite. It is not simply the end of sleep, but a transformation in which borrowed voices fade and one’s own light begins to shine. These images capture that inner dawn, when the true self rises from shadows and the soul is quietly reborn.

George Mayer is a fine art photographer based in the US. Granted an EB-1 visa for extraordinary ability in 2023, he gained international acclaim after winning the Sony World Photography Awards in 2017 with Light. Shadows. Perfect Woman. His work, marked by psychological depth and minimalist aesthetics, has been exhibited at Photo London, LA Art Show, MIA Fair Milan, and more than 70 shows worldwide.
