The advantage of a small-town local rodeo is that the viewers, including the casual photographer, can get closer to the riders and see the action close-up, even the gritty expressions on their faces. The Northern Rodeo Association's annual schedule traditionally ends with the Labor Day rodeo in Helmville, Montana (census population 58). This year's event included competitions for even the youngest riders, and the family fun was favored with almost perfect weather.
