Dancing Spirits” is inspired by the Bayaka’s animistic beliefs, seeing the forest alive with spirits revealed through nocturnal dances and rhythmic drumbeats. In Congo, where 60% of the land is rainforest, its division between logging and national parks threatens local communities. The Bayaka, reliant on hunting and gathering, face marginalization as industry disturbs their territories, undermining food security. Bushmeat, vital protein for rural diets, is strained by urban demand, driving overhunting and wildlife loss.
