These are a part of a series of B&W photos of my parents, Miki and Yoko, both passed within a week. 56 images total. As Mom’s health declined, she grew deeply grateful, opening her heart to others only in her final days. She avoided doctors, maybe from her childhood memory, until a fall led to a late-stage cancer diagnosis. No treatment could be done, she stayed home, embraced by family and friends. “I’m the happiest person in the world,” she’d say, her face serene despite pain. I wanted to share this rich experience through my photography. I am so grateful that I was with them.
