This photo was taken in winter at Enzoji Temple in Yanaizu, Fukushima Prefecture. Men wearing loincloths were heroically competing with each other in the extreme cold, climbing up the sturdy hemp rope one after the other. It seemed as if the men and the tourists were in unison inside the temple, so I snapped the shutter.
