Nature abstract – the texture of a winter sea. This image was created during a period of my life of profound pain and loss which was, at the same time, a process of healing. These veiny, lapping waves spoke to me of that dark ‘body’ of sorrow, which held within it the possibility of renewal.

Sarah Garland is an emerging photographic artist based in England, UK. Her work has been published internationally and exhibited in London and Glasgow, New York and Vermont, Tokyo, Paris and Budapest. Through the camera, Sarah enters an intimate relationship between her surroundings and inner world. Her imagery seeks a deeper beauty and essence beyond the surface. Her art is both personal and transcendent, inviting viewers to connect with what is within them and what is beyond themselves.
