My goal was to experience the unknown and mysterious Venice, so I chose winter. The winter fog gives the Serenissima city its mysterious atmosphere. Added to that was the second year of the coronavirus pandemic with travel restrictions, which perhaps made the atmosphere even more eerie. I was lucky, as there was mostly thick sea fog. The extraordinary thing about Venice is that its canals serve as transportation routes, with their gondolas and gondoliers. All these factors led to unique snapshots of wintery Venice.
I am 54 years old and live in Seligenstadt, Hesse. For many years, I worked as a landscape gardener, where I was able to work creatively with nature. Due to tragic events, I can no longer pursue my profession, which gave me time to devote more intensively to photography. Initially, it was primarily while traveling and in nature that I discovered abstract and contemporary photography. With a camera, you can create beautiful, individual works of art; you just have to get involved. This doesn't happen at the push of a button, however; it happens intuitively, based on the situation.
