On Good Friday, in Militello Rosmarino - a small town located near the Nebrodi mountain range in the Italian region of Sicily - an ancient ritual involving the simulacrums of the Most Holy Crucifix and The Sorrowful Mother is still upheld to this day. During the procession, the two are carried and accompanied by the Jews and the Magdalenes. The latter are known to wear a black habit, a black veil, and a crown of thorns. Their faces are completely covered, making their identity unknown even among the locals, further adding to the mystery and uniqueness of the event.
