This is a project that blends photographs of Venice from the 1920s taken by my grandfather, with artificial intelligence to expand the boundaries of the visible. The AI attempts to "reconstruct" a past it never experienced, creating an "artificial expansion" that reflects both the theme of memory and the mutable nature of reality. Important is the contrast between the tangible memory of the historical photographs and the lack of memory in AI. The errors in AI's interpretations symbolize the partiality of our memory too, as our minds also reprocess, omit, and reinvent.

  BARBARA ZANON is a professional photojournalist, portrait and wedding photographer, based in Venice (Italy) since 2004. Barbara Zanon is a GETTY IMAGES CONTRIBUTOR in the News and she published pictures on internationally known italian and foreign NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES (as Life, Repubblica, NYTimes, Vogue, Gruppo Espresso, Stern Corriere, El Mundo, EL Pais, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Express, Le MONDE, Forbers, Time, Spiegel etc) She is a member of ITALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION, and she also is a awarded member of international wedding associations, as WPJA, AGWPJA, ISPWP and WPS.
