Iceland is an island of raw and powerful landscapes. The volcanic slopes and black lava deserts emerges from snow drifts and dustings to take on a quiet yet majestic monochromatic existence with the occasional shade of pale blue in the sky. Like a blank canvas, the landscape is now calm, allowing for imagination to play with the simplicity of elements. These images are of a monochrome landscape, taken in colour.

Ulana Switucha has photographed throughout Asia for over 30 years and currently resides in Hong Kong. She creates evocative landscape, portrait and documentary photographs working in both colour and black and white. Influenced by a Japanese aesthetic, there is an evolving minimalist style and contemplative peacefulness in her recent work.
