Created in quarantine, these images conflate a collective longing for the environment with the instinct to consume. In my home studio I have been simulating natural experiences through dark humorous staged vignettes that I build and place myself into. These images reflect a human desire to connect with nature, and the failure of that connection with the influence of commerce, consumerism, lifestyle and comfort. Due to Covid-19, we have become even more isolated from nature, from each other, and from the world, multiplying some of these emotions.

Margeaux Walter received her MFA from Hunter College, 2014 and BFA from NYU, 2006. She has received multiple honors from the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward, HeadOn Photo Festival, Photolucida, Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Photography Awards, The Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and other organizations. She is represented by Winston Wachter Fine Artand Foto Relevance, and has participated in exhibitions at institutions such as MOCA, Hunterdon Art Museum, The Center for Photography Woodstock, The Butler Institute of American Art, Tacoma Art Museum and Griffin Museum of Photography
