THE CONSOLATION OF DEW consists of 49 photographs taken in the artist’s Tokyo neighborhood during the weeks after the death of his young daughter. It also includes his translations of Edo era haiku written after children's deaths. Together, they form a meditation on loss, grief, and mortality. The book was edited and designed by the artist. It is printed on six meters of mulberry washi, single-sided, and accordion folded. The book and its matching triptych case are bound in blue linen. An insert in the case contains an essay and colophon. At present, the artist has constructed a single dummy.
