The recent amplification of the Black Lives Matter voice has been hugely thought provoking, especially in considering the role played by white privilege in unconscious bias. Ayo Akinwolere was born in Nigeria, raised in Birmingham. He has felt compelled to speak out about the racism surrounding media and life in “Great” Britain. The shoot narrative was initially inspired by themes of entrapment, then further punctuated by Ayo’s experiences as a 'Black Man in a White World'. My series includes positive & hopeful notes, looking at freedom, authenticity & a move towards a liberated creative future.
