I am a keen seascape photographer and travelled to Ilulissat, Greenland, in July 2019 to photograph the icebergs in Disko Bay. Each giant iceberg, some the size of football stadia, seem to adopt a distinct character: the ‘cathedral’, the ‘doorstop’, the ‘aircraft carrier’ etc. I left with an overall impression of otherworldly shapes and textures. This photo reminded me of a Mark Rothko abstract painting emphasising rectangular blocks. The icebergs calve from the glacier and they slowly melt in a continuous cycle. The issue is that this is happening at an ever accelerating rate.

My name is Robert Bolton and I am an amateur who tries his best to do Fine Art landscape and abstract photography, based in the UK. I love seascapes, minimalism and the 'otherworldly'. We create our reality and I like mine tranquil, reflective and as simple as possible.
