It started by having drives around neighborhoods I had never visit before, (yes I was in the backseat of a car taking photographs because it was a really bad idea to walk around with my camera), absolutely symbolic of how distant I was from this place, from these people. Those photographs were blurry, they were faceless, and the emotional separation was obvious. Time after time this process became more organic, I couldn’t be afraid anymore and got closer, I started walking with my camera, looking deeper into the place I was raised but had no idea it exited.
