‘untitled (a stray poem)’ is my long-term project that expresses the relation between impermanence and beauty. With the natural world and the human body as form and metaphor, I evoke the gentle exultation and grief at the awareness that their beauty is bound to the passage of time, reflecting my fundamental interest in ‘mono no aware’, or the pathos of things. Effusing fragility and a meditative quality, my work invites audiences to wander, examine the world closely, and discover monumentality in minutiae.
