Frederik Pieraerd (Sint-Truiden, Belgium, 1961)is a self-taught portrait and fine art photographer with a deep passion for light, contrast, and atmosphere. His work, often in black-and-white and low-key, delves into the tension between what is revealed and what remains hidden. Through his meticulous use of light and shadow, his portraits invite the viewer to come closer and uncover the subtle stories behind each expression. For him, photography transcends mere documentation; it is a profound dialogue between the subject, the photographer, and the viewer. His style does not show but leaves out.
