These picture shows a large lake that has formed within the area of a former lignite open-cast mine. After coal mining was gone, the craters in the ground were flooded with water - a new habitat was created. From above, the landscape tells the story of transformation. Where giant machines once cut deep scars into the earth, shimmering lakes now lie like mirrors in the terrain. Slowly but persistently, nature has woven itself back into the wounds of the land.
My vision is to reveal the fragile beauty of our planet and create awareness of humanity’s footprint. Through my work, I aim to build bridges: between art and environment, beauty and responsibility, distance and closeness. I believe that images have the power to shift perspectives – and to remind us that we are part of the whole.
