Helgoland, a German off-shore island, is home in spring to the only German colony of northern gannets. Here you can observe them up close in their thousands in the breeding period. Whenever one of the adults comes back to the nest, the greeting begins: a sort of dance where both male and female lift their necks, touch their bills, show their bond. A very romantic moment which highlights the colours and shapes of these very beautiful birds.
