This photograph was taken at the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan during an unusually hot summer. The temperature rose to 40°C, and the sand, heated under the sun, burned underfoot. The vast sea appeared just beyond the dunes, creating a striking contrast between the scorched ground and the cool horizon.
