Fibro

FIBRO unravels the invisible weight of Fibromyalgia, translating chronic pain into stark, evocative imagery. Dani’s body is both subject and storyteller... progressively tensed, curled, blurred. Stillness and distortion represent moments of raw vulnerability and near-erasure. "Sometimes it's so unbearable I think I don’t want to live anymore. But I’m a warrior... I’ve been suffering for 25 years and no-one would guess. It’s an invisible illness”. The series does not aim to explain fibromyalgia… it simply mirrors the exhaustion, isolation and dissociation that can define reality for so many.

I’m the world’s first photographer to use Extended Reality (XR) as a new Fine Art medium. Blending XR with stills, video, AI-imagery, live projection, and natural landscapes, I add synthetic elements to the real world, in real time… shooting everything in-camera. As XR goes mainstream, digital overlays will reshape our senses. While my work embraces this emerging tech, it also questions how it might affect our culture. Inspired by real stories, classic movie SFX and Madeira’s dramatic landscapes, I fuse past, present, and future. I interpret the world by building my own.
