I often take my old Rollei twin lens camera on bushwalks. It’s lightweight, yet still capable of producing fine images. Every now and then, I forget to wind the film before taking a new shot, resulting in an unintentional double exposure. But sometimes, these accidents turn out to be more intriguing results than the photographs I had planned!
Born in Shikoku, Japan in 1970, I relocated to Australia in 2001 and have have spent over 20 years working on various rainforest conservation projects. I first picked up a camera in 1995, and by 1997 I had set up a small darkroom in the kitchen of my apartment in Kyoto, where I began printing my own black-and-white photographs. A self-taught photographer, I continue to work primarily with analogue materials, using traditional darkroom techniques.
