Mt. Qilai is located in Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range and is part of Taroko National Park. It is a majestic and rugged mountain. The mountain includes the Main Peak (3,560 meters) and the North Peak (3,607 meters), with the North Peak being the most visited due to its panoramic views. Because of its steep terrain and unpredictable weather, Mt. Qilai is nicknamed "Black Qilai." It has an almost legendary reputation among hikers. During the Japanese colonial period (1895–1945), Mt.
