I spent four hours waiting for this photo. I had hoped to capture people caught in the spotlight patterns, but for the first two hours, the weather wouldn’t cooperate. I walked out of the building, almost ready to give up. Instead, I took a short break — and returned. And then, the scene appeared, just as dramatic as I had imagined.

Zili Zhang is an award-winning photographer based in Greenwich, CT. He was named Conceptual Photographer of the Year by Exposure One, Gold from 1839 Awards and ND Magazine. His work has also been recognized by Smithsonian, IPA, PX3, TIFA and many more. He explores quiet visual dialogues and seeks serenity through simplicity.
