In Whitehorse, Canada, during a rare solar maximum, I saw an aurora so intense and fast-moving that I increased my shutter speed to preserve its form before it faded. As the light unfolded above the snowy forest, it formed wide wings—like a bird soaring silently through the sky. Maybe it was just my imagination, but it felt like nature was sending a message. Years ago in Iceland, I missed the aurora due to clouds. When the forecast showed overcast skies again, I feared a repeat. But this time, the sky cleared. It felt as if nature had quietly answered a long-held wish.
