No throne. No noise. Just alignment. They held the water like elders hold wisdom. Their silence wasn’t empty; it was earned. For weeks, I searched the lake’s edge, driving out day after day, unsure where, when, or if I would see them. Then, behind an apartment complex where the lake spilled into a quiet bay, I found them; a massive flock of hundreds, drifting in silence.
