After a heavy snowfall in Notsuke Peninsula, Hokkaido, I encountered a wild fox approaching a puddle formed by melting snow. I positioned myself low to capture its reflection—sharp, calm, and fleeting. Shooting from this low angle brought out both the fox’s focused gaze and the fragile surface of the snowmelt. The image reveals a quiet tension between wild instinct and stillness, shaped by the overlap of nature and human presence. After hours of detours due to snow-blocked roads, I finally reached this place. This moment made every struggle to get there feel worthwhile.
