I am interested in edges and intersections of transformation where one thing moves inexorably to become something else. When is the moment when love fades into anger and resentment? And when is the moment when pain gives way to relief? In my photography I seek out places where a known object reveals patterns of color, texture and form. I capture these images and layer them together to create objects of meditation on that transformative process. In this series, photographs of refracted light projected onto various surfaces are layered together in Photoshop to create these abstract patterns.
Vicky Stromee was immersed in the transformative power of the arts from an early age. Her obsession with texture, pattern, fluidity, and change became defining life themes that continue to unfold in her work. Painterly influences inform Vicky's unique eye for composition and form, light and color. Her work invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and find a visual respite.
