“Mung Bean Garlic” is a traditional dessert from Pingtung, Taiwan. Despite its name, it contains no garlic—peeled mung beans resemble garlic cloves after cooking. Served hot or cold, it is sweetened with brown sugar and often enriched with dried longan for deeper flavor. In this series, burlap bags highlight freshness and authenticity, while warm golden tones echo the dessert’s gentle character. From bowls of comforting soup to shaved ice and milk drinks, this humble sweet carries the taste of southern Taiwan’s culture and daily life.
