his is a humble side dish in Southeast Asian cuisine—unassuming and unremarkable, yet I find it embodies the classic flair of Southeast Asia. We often fixate too much on the main dishes, but sometimes it’s the little things that hold the key to perfection. When shooting, I was inspired by the lushness of Southeast Asian foliage, so I designed dappled light casting onto the table to mimic that dense, natural texture.
