The fusion of traditional animist customs and Catholicism can be seen every year in Bajava (Nusa Teggara) during the Reba Festival. What distinguishes Flores Island is the intermingling of traditions and religions without bitterness or conflict. This attitude of peaceful coexistence is palpable in the air and is clearly expressed in this festival, where Mass is celebrated alongside traditional animist dances and costumes.
