The two of my friends were leaving New York where a city full of memories. I captured the moment blending into the soft light at Central Park in spring 2021. It was an irreplaceable moment for them in the pandemic.
I am a New York–based photographer originally from Nara, Japan. Since 2010, I have pursued photography independently, using the city as a stage to explore the relationship between urban landscapes and natural light. My work balances stillness and movement, shaped by a Japanese sense of aesthetics and an intuitive response to New York’s energy. In portraiture, I avoid excessive direction, focusing on the moment when a subject naturally blends into their surroundings. Through light, shadow, and space, I create images that feel both immediate and timeless. Thank you, Shintaro Ueyama
