These young Samburu warriors living in the remote savannah of Northern Kenya are responsible for protecting their semi-pastoral tribal communities, cattle and camels. Warriorhood is a rite of passage in Samburu culture, which these elite group of young men proudly maintain. The warriors prepare themselves physically in strength and take great pride in their colourful traditional attire and beadwork - each with their own unique style - including the headdress and painted face. Hours are spent braiding each other’s long red ochre coloured hair - a prestigious symbol of Samburu warrior status.
