‘María Mulatas’ (a name given to Great-tailed Grackles by Colombian culture) are notably mischievous, rowdy, and social birds. That’s probably why, amidst the tree leaves, this ‘María Mulata’ I photographed at Cartagena’s Walled City stood out so much: His loneliness almost silenced his calls.
