Lost in thought, I strolled through the Christmas-decorated arcades that surround St. Mark's Square in Venice. There was no sign of Christmas euphoria or the intoxication of the New Year. Where tourists and locals usually stroll close together, there was desolation, with the exception of a few people. The dreary gray weather with the winter fog did the rest. Corona has shaped people's behavior, as everyone was afraid of becoming infected themselves. Lost in thought, I only perceived my surroundings in a blur. It was as if I was experiencing a daydream.
I am 54 years old and live in Seligenstadt, Hesse. For many years, I worked as a landscape gardener, where I was able to work creatively with nature. Due to tragic events, I can no longer pursue my profession, which gave me time to devote more intensively to photography. Initially, it was primarily while traveling and in nature that I discovered abstract and contemporary photography. With a camera, you can create beautiful, individual works of art; you just have to get involved. This doesn't happen at the push of a button, however; it happens intuitively, based on the situation.
