I TAKE MY POWER BACK is a series of self-portraits. The series expresses the universal concern of reclaiming of self, it illustrates a claim of empowerment, both societal and intimate. Its talk emerges from chaos into the heart of our lives. I created an entirely upcycled denim costume, like an armor adorned with metal buttons and multiple chains. The styling, makeup, staging and photo process revisit the cyberpunk aestethic, its magical and political powers. I chose to work with a smartphone because it has become a truly contemporary device that has democratized photography.
