Most of us tend to recognize faces or shapes in clouds, flaking paint or all kinds of things. I recognize them in dried out tulip petals. Because of their incredible diversity in shapes and colors they are my favorite subjects. While they wilt and dry - sometimes I soak and dry them several times - the petals’ vein structures become more and more visible, they contract, and after some time the petals morph into new shapes. I don't interfere with this process; I just capture what comes up on its own at a particular moment during their metamorphosis. I use only Lightroom.

I am a freelance audiovisual translator for Mandarin and English into German and a self-taught photographer with a passion for flowers. Cut flowers are discarded the moment they begin to wilt, but I am interested in how the petals change over the course of time. And I want to make visible what is not usually seen.
