On The Territory of The Orca

A child gazing at an aquarium clutches a stuffed orca and gazes at it. Maybe the child likes orca. Maybe it is pure adoration. When I photographed this dreamy scene, my eyes were cold. The orcas are a spectacle in an aquarium. They refuse to know the vastness of the ocean. Trained to perform for sustenance, the orca's emotions remain a mystery. Is there a difference in the sense of well-being between orcas swimming around in the open ocean and those confined to an aquarium? As I ponder this juxtaposition with the innocence of a child, a poignant question arises.
