The picture shows the façade of a residential building in the city center of Marseille, France. Curtains and shutters are closed due to the intense heat on this day. Although the house is sealed off from the outside world in such a manner, the picture is full of life: laundry hangs on the clotheslines to dry and a plant peeps through the shutters. A gust of wind makes the sheets on the top floor flutter. And so the sight of the building becomes a reference to the life of its inhabitants behind these walls - hence the name: Still Life.
