A simple sphere, its shadow and the shadow of out of frame objects from my LIMINA(II) series. The circle and the sphere, as well as the dichotomy of light and darkness, are universal symbols. According to Aniela Jaffe (Symbolism in the Visual Arts, in Carl G. Jung et al., Man and his Symbols,1964) the circle symbolizes the self and expresses the totality of the psyche, including the relationship between man and the whole of nature. It always points to the single most vital aspect of life, its ultimate wholeness.
