Beach hauling is the oldest method of commercial fishing on the east coast of Australia. Only a few fishermen remain who continue using this "back breaking" way of catching fish. The net from the boat is employed in a semi-circle from the beach, encircling passing schools of fish whilst being manually retrieved into increasingly shallower water towards the foreshore. This series of images are part of a self published book titled "The last of the Pittwater beach haulers".
