On The Edge of Water'S Blues

  • Photographer
    Vincenzo Parisi

The Garda Lake is the largest basin of sweet water in Italy. The level of the lake's water is significantly lowering, as part of the drought that hit North Italy in the last years. In the 2023 winter season, the highest level of the water was 60 centimeters lower than the seasonal average. 222 million cubic meters of water missing. The situation is clearly visible throughout the lake where passages, beaches, and rock slabs have re-emerged, many ports are unusable and are subject to dredging, and docks belong more to dry land than water.

Vincenzo Parisi is an independent photographer based in Bologna, Italy. He attended the Foto Image photography school from 2015 to 2018. His first work was "L", a still life project about the figure of his grandmother. Since 2019 he has participated in the "H20 Planet" project by "7milamiglialontano", a non-profit association in Brescia, Italy, covering and reporting the state of water pollution and the beauty of the planet. In 2021 he concludes his first personal documentary work, "Down on the short road near the Causeway"
