Climate change has been reflected in the dieback of forests in the low mountain ranges of Germany in recent years. For years, monoculture in silviculture with spruce forests was practiced in the Harz Mountains. Due to the drought of recent years, the bark beetle has the upper hand and is gradually destroying the spruce forests. Here two larches in their yellow autumn plumage stand alone between these dead larches.
