I found Hakodate by chance when visiting a friend who had moved back to his home in northern Japan. Upon arrival I see a small town bathing in light of all colors. It isn’t until later that evening when I realize that, although vividly lit, entire neighbourhoods in the city-center are abandoned. I spend my days in Hakodate wandering the city by night, lured by the light like a moth. Looking up every dark alley behind every corner to discover lightscapes clad in yet another color.
