As a Trans Woman I set out to create an image that truly represents my transition, I took inspiration from the idea of a phoenix rising from the ashes and decided on a self portrait. It was captured using two flashes and a long shutter speed The initial flash captured myself in a curled position on the ground to symbolize my pretransition life and the pain and turmoil that I experienced The second curtain flash was used to capture myself as I am now almost through my transition and in a serene mind set and truly at peace with myself, The motion blur in-between represents the process I took.
