Where does the machine end and the art begin… there is a side where madness and genius touch This series is inspired by a colleague and a brilliant collector of amazing objects, Steve Erenberg. He is affectionately known as Radio Guy. In Metal, i could deal with most of my fantasies…. art Deco, Industrialization, fashion and the figure… even portraiture to some extent. The METAL project has captured me full heartedly… it won’t let go… then maybe i don’t want it to… a place where there are no rules. but as with the most special projects…there are no rules when you are so immersed in it.

Dennis Manarchy was raised in Rockford, Illinois and grew a love for photography at an early age. Upon graduation from Rochester Institute of Technology he was fortunate to serve an apprenticeship for legendary photographer, Irving Penn. Dennis was drafted into the army in 1968, serving as Lieutenant in the Vietnam War. Returning home disillusioned, he was taken under the care of a Lumbee Indian chief, spending 6 months immersing himself in their daily life…a pivotal experience…one that led him back to his art. He built a studio in Chicago and has been creating never looking back.
