The battered women I meet at Dastak a Womens shelterhome are not shaggy and ruined but - on the contrary - strong and free. In the Islamic world dreams can have a prophetic meaning and be crucial to the choices one makes in one's life. I met a number of strong women with some violent but life-affirming stories and they told me about the dreams they had had and what landmark significance it had for their lives They tell of strong fateful dreams, and I recognize that. I have very strong dreams since my childhood, and when I was a child, I used my dreams as a a safe place from my violent mother.
