Transfiguration is a metaphor for the transition from the innate to life. At some point in the history of evolution, life began, the theories of this beginning being widespread and uncertain. Blowing off the sea from distances unknown, hot, humid, ancient air swelters. This is the atmosphere in Qatar. A person can simply reach into the sky, into the heavens, and pull life right out of the air. Covered in crude oil, the figure represents the transition from earth to human, a stunning depiction of evolution, and the beauty of both past and present life.
