Forest Gardeners Part 2

  • Photographer
    Sebastien Michaud

The boreal forest is the largest forest ecosystem on the planet. Three nurseries located in Saguenay specialize in the growth of tree species that will be used for the reforestation of the most important forest region in Québec. Men from different backgrounds, each of them with their own reasons to come back, year after year, and to immerse themselves over again into these forests that we garden in the hope that future generations too will be able to harvest trees from. Thus, these planters are the « forest gardeners ».

Sébastien Michaud having received his academic training in film photography at the turn of the 2000s, he continued his career in visual art at the Université du Québec à Montréal until 2013. After a few multidisciplinary art exhibitions, he devoted himself almost exclusively to the photographic medium. He has been working as a photography teacher for 6 years. He was able to show his show his images in public, among others, during the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographs in Gaspésie in 2013, at Espace F in Matane in 2014 and at the Montélimar Festival of Photography in France in 2015
